‍Our Take:

Jungle Scout is an excellent Amazon research tool. The decision on Amazon research tools typically comes down to Jungle Scout vs Helium 10. We’ve done a full compariso, but the TLDR is that we recommend Jungle Scout for smaller brands because it has similar functionality to Helium 10 but at better pricing especially in the higher tiers. We think Jungle Scout is a great starting place and companies can migrate to Helium 10 when they are larger and can take advantage of the additional features.

Best for: Small ($0-10M annual revenue) and medium ($10-50M) size companies.

Jungle Scout

Jungle Scout has all of the key features needed in an Amazon research tool at an affordable price.

‍

Jungle Scout Founding Story:

Greg Mercer started selling products on Amazon in 2012 as a way to quit his civil engineering job that he hated. In 2015, he created a Chrome extension called Jungle Scout to help make product research easier, hiring a developer in Eastern Europe to build the first version. He shared it with some Amazon selling communities he was a part of and it started gaining some traction, so he began doing webinars to promote it further. The extension continued growing in popularity, allowing Greg to focus on it more than his own Amazon selling business. Over the years, Jungle Scout has expanded into a suite of tools and software for Amazon sellers and is one of the dominant Amazon research tools. In 2021, they raised a growth round of $110M from Summit Partners. Today, they have a team of over 200 and support over 600,000 entrepreneurs and major brands.

‍

What is Jungle Scout?

Jungle Scout is an Amazon research tool. It does two core things really well: Amazon product and keyword research. It will help you come up with product ideas and validate demand for products. The tool offers a ton of additional benefits that we’ll describe below but at its core that is what the tool does.

‍

What we like about Jungle Scout πŸ‘:

‍

Strong data quality

Jungle Scout has internal studies that say that their data is more accurate, but competitors like Helium 10 have their own research studies showing their data is more accurate. So who is right and has more accurate data? We think it’s a tie. At the end of the day, all tools are taking data inputs from Amazon to estimate sales and search volumes. The key word is estimate. No tool will be 100% accurate all the time. But that's okay. We think Jungle Scout's data is directionally accurate enough for making decisions on Amazon. The goal of Jungle Scout is to reduce uncertainty when making decisions, not to completely eliminate it. People on Reddit will vocally argue for one tool’s accuracy over the others, but in our testing we haven’t seen a meaningful difference in data accuracy.

‍

Product Research Tools (Sales Estimator)

Jungle Scout has their Product Database tool which gives you sales estimates, review summaries, historical pricing data, number of sellers and more for researching competitors' products and sourcing product ideas. This tool has a huge database of Amazon products that you can filter based on your specific criteria (e.g., products with at least 10k units per month in sales with less than 400 reviews).

‍‍

Keyword Research Tools

Jungle Scout offers functionality to estimate Amazon keyword search volumes with their Keyword Scout product. Users can enter a keyword or phrase and get the estimated search volume.

‍

Listing Optimizer & Creator

Jungle Scout’s listing optimization tool houses their Listing Optimization Score in their Listing Builder. It will give insights for listing improvement.

‍

Chrome Plugin

Jungle Scout has a helpful Chrome plugin available here that gives you a great free starting place for analyzing Amazon data. By upgrading to paid plans you will make the Jungle Scout plugin more powerful.

‍

Educational Resources

Jungle Scout has great training resources to help you learn the art of selling on Amazon and get maximum value from Jungle Scout.

‍

Automated emails

Emailing your customers and encouraging them to leave reviews is crucial for the success of your Amazon listing. Jungle Scout includes automated email capabilities in their basic plan. This allows you to encourage customers to leave reviews for your Amazon listings.

‍

Unique Jungle Scout features:

‍

Supplier Database

Jungle Scout offers a much more robust supplier database. You can use this database to find the suppliers that your competitors are using to source their products. Some people subscribe to both Helium 10 and Jungle Scout just for this feature. It can be extremely helpful in sourcing products.

‍

Giveaway / Promotions platform

We think this feature is more of a nice to have, but Jungle Scout offers the ability to manage product gifting in their platform. This can help seed products for reviews when you launch a product. The performance of your product launch is critical to the performance of your listing overall, so we do recommend focusing on it.Β Β

‍

Jungle Scout has three pricing tiers and offers discounts for annual subscriptions.
